Why people climb higher than the others?

Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts – Proverbs 19:6

What do you do when you hear people talk about you? Are you the type that tries to be a friend to everyone that comes around you? I've come to discover that people who go farther in life are people whose vision and purpose is the first ever thing they pursue after not regarding any comments from Dick, or Tom;

Talking to my boss, she said after her nursing education in somewhere in Enugu state, she decided to go to Abuja in search for a Job. She knows no one there save a girlfriend of hers but the urge to go was there, she persuaded a colleague to go with her, and they both work in a clinic and paid #18000.

Tips For Professional Branding II BY SAMUEL JAMES AWOKE - leave a comment

It is said that “when preparation meets opportunity, success is attained

Branding is one fact that individuals aiming for height in life needs to actualize while preparing for what waits in the nearest future. It is the process of placing a brand (i.e. either one’s self, product, career in pursuit, business, name, or whatever you’re aiming to bring to spotlight so people can appreciate) in a way it can be known, resourceful, and be a problem solver to people’s needs.
 When a brand is set out, it needs to be advertised, it needs publicity especially when your expected outcome of influence is international.

You should note this quote that “a successful brand offers unlimited opportunities in all works of life”. You see that what you really need in life to attain that success is to set that brand right.

This article like last year’s edition is set out to make you and your brand renowned for your profit even before you begin working on it. I know most people will say it’s best to get the content better before packaging. But as an observer, a statistics has been taken, and it shows that a large number of content/project proposals without good branded packaging has been often rejected and overlooked by investors/employers who make use of the internet to recruit, and the lack of an attractive profile on the internet, and I know you wouldn’t want to miss out just because of some free internet profile you didn’t put up. Well, let’s continue the points listed in the first edition with these few tips below;

9 Things Procrastination would do to you

Procrastination: The primary key to failure.

Having gone through a level of education, and met a few successful people and several numbers of people who fail unfortunately. The excuse has always been the same. But among young people whom I’ve been with I realize that procrastination has always had its way.

DEFINITION: What is Procrastination?
Oxford advanced learners’ dictionary defines Procrastination as the act of someone delaying something that is meant to be done usually because he/she do not want to do it. When a person chooses to do something else at the expense of doing what was supposed to be done it is called procrastination.

CAUSES
When people procrastinate, it is often as a result of the following:
·        Laziness
·        Lack of time-value
·        Carelessness
·        Indiscipline, etc.
And these factors devalues one’s ability, it makes a once brilliant young kid engage in malpractice in an exam just because he/she procrastinated in reading for an examination. When a procrastinator discovers that the time lost cannot be retrieved again then they find an artificial means of making up for what was lost, and that is failure in the making.

Lessons from the life of HEROES from the past 1: Thomas Edison "The great inventor"

What was his pursuit and his inspirations that made him accomplish so much?
“Genius is one percent inspiration, ninety nine percent perspiration.” Thomas Alva Edison, Harper’s Monthly (September 1932 edition).
Having gone through the biography of Thomas Edison, it made realize so much about life, challenges, handling difficulties and pursuing your greatest passion. Edison was a business man as well as an inventor who had so little to begin life with.
He was born on the 11th day of February, 1847. Milan, Ohio, U.S. and he died heroically on the 18th day of October, 1931 in West Orange, New Jersey, U.S. (aged 84). His father ran away from his family for a disclosed reason. He was American with a reported Dutch ancestry.
He developed many devices that greatly influenced life around the world, including the PHONOGRAPH, the MOTION PICTURE CAMERA, and the first long-lasting, practical electric light bulb which lasted for 13.5 hours. He is so prolific in his inventions that he holds 1,093 US patents in the United Kingdom, France, and Germany.

His education life was not so buoyant, as he was downed by his teacher because he has a wandering mind which prompted him (the reverend Engle) to call him “addled”. This ended Edison’s three months of official schooling. He recalled later, and said, “My mother is the making of me. She was so true, so sure of me; and I felt I had something to live for, someone I must not disappoint.” His mother taught him at home. Much of his education came from reading R.G. parker’s school of Natural Philosophy and The cooper Union. HE MADE THE BEST OF HIS INABILITY TO COMPLETE NORMAL SCHOOL PROCESS.

Breaking news: An important secret shared.

If you are feeling somewhat discouraged by your disinclination to follow Jesus’ advice on prayer, let me share with you a way of overcoming this reluctance. I warn you it will take a little discipline, but the rewards will far outweigh the effort.
The secret is to begin your prayer time with meditation. I learnt this in George Muller’s writings from many years ago, who said that the practice of meditating on scripture before beginning his prayer time transformed his relationship with the lord. ‘For the first ten years of my Christian life,’ he wrote, ‘my habit was to wash and dress myself, and then turn to prayer.’ But often he felt his prayer time was tedious and boring. Then, as he changed his approach to prayer by first reading the word of God and meditating on it, he found his heart would leap towards prayer almost of its own accord.
He would speak to God about the things he had discovered in the Word and never again did he find prayer wearisome.

The tale of time management 1.

The truth about time management.
Psalms 90 vs. 1 to 17; Ecclesiastes 3 vs. 1 to 8; Matthew 6 vs. 25 to 33;
The book of the Psalmist chapter 90 verses 12 wrote: Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
One of the most influenced pieces of literature (about time usage) I ever read was a little pamphlet written by Charles Hummel entitled: The tyranny of the urgent. In it explains that until we know the difference between the urgent and the important then we will never become good stewards of our time. Our lives are often ruled by the urgent because we have never taken the time to put things in their proper order of priority.
The man who influenced the world the most (JESUS CHRIST) was a man with a leisured heart. He was never flurried and never worried. But he always had time for the things that mattered.
Suppose we were talking face to face and I asked you: what do you propose to do at 5pm yesterday? What would you say? You might probably say: ‘Samuel, are you mad? I can’t decide what I shall do at 5pm yesterday – perhaps yesterday has come and gone.’ But what if I were to ask: ‘what do you intend to do at 5pm tomorrow?’ then you might say: ‘Ah, that’s different.’

Immunization for man's reading faculty: Choosing what to read.

Galatians 6:7; Ecclesiastes 12:12; Daniel 9:1-3; Habakkuk 2:2.

“When one reads good books, it is like having a conversation with men of good breeding who lived in the past”. Renes Descartes (a seventeenth century French philosopher);

Someone also said: “every book carries the spirit of the writer”.
Reading is like having a selective conversation in which the author expresses only his innermost thoughts. As you read a book, part of the writer’s ideas and thoughts are transferred unto you. It is not all the writer’s ideas and thoughts that are noble. This has resulted to many broken homes, divorce, fighting, religious conflicts, political crisis and so many other mischief.
You, from hence forth, need to choose what you read. Bad books will corrupt you and consequently condemn your soul to corruption. Beware and be warned. Be not deceived: “evil communications corrupt good manners” – 1 Corinthians 15:33.
1.     THE POWER INHERENT IN READING.
Reading is potent. It is the key that unlocks various kinds of knowledge and skills. Often, what you read directs or redirects your life. A student in a science class is likely to end up as a medical doctor, or an engineer, or a pharmacist, or as a professional in any of the science – related fields; simply because of what he she is reading and studying. Children tend to pursue their parents’ professions that they have immediate access to. When Daniel went through some books, he was influenced by what he read. It stirred him to pray and fast. (According to our test) This consequently changed the life and history of his people.

How to improve your thinking ability: CREATIVE THINKING.

Proverbs 23:7; Philippians 4:8.

For as a man thinks in his heart, so is he: ………

Creative thinking is a specific thought-process which improves and maximizes the ability of the brain to generate new ideas.
Your thinking controls your life. The quality of your thinking will always determine the results you see in your life. Every known human accomplishment of repute, either of machine, technology, or ideologies, was born out of deep and qualitative thinking. We must learn to exercise and exert our brain more than we are doing at the moment.
We should tackle our personal and social-economic challenges, as solutions of many earthly and human problems are embedded in the deeper thinking ability of man. The human mind is a factory that can create and manufacture new great innovative ideas.
THE POWER OF CREATIVE THINKING.
When it comes to creativity, the good news is that significant creativity is within everyone’s reach. It is highly attainable to any one irrespective of age, social class, financial class, or whatever different category in life. It breeds happiness; efficiency; productivity; and technological advancement. Apart from this, we are able to solve the little problems that confront us daily.

How to step out of being average and move to perfection

MEDIOCRITY, AN ENEMY OF PERFECTION

Perfection is the product of years of struggling, imperfection, mediocrity and mistakes. It also means being entire, complete, or excellent.

People tend to scare away from becoming perfect, they escape with the phrase “nobody can be perfect” while someone can actually be. It is not impossible, it is farfetched but not out of this world.
Jesus spoke his disciple telling them “Be you perfect, even as your father who is in heaven is perfect”(Matthew 5:48)
Is he a soothsayer for him to tell you to do what is not possible? Is he insane? It cannot be, because he was a discipler with results, he was totally successful in his field so for him to tell you to be prefect was because he has seen the possibility in becoming perfect.
Mediocrity is the act of being average, not ahead or below, just in the middle. This is a great danger to perfection. It should not be overlooked.
A thief could start stealing from coin to cash, from cash to cheque, then eventually armed to the bank, you can see he is actually growing in what started from the cradle, he is said to be becoming perfect in his stealing, same goes with a liar. A liar lies from the start with fear but as time goes on, he doesn’t even think before he lies, it has become part of him. So likewise perfection is possible.
What is stopping you from becoming perfect? Why can you not be complete?
 IT IS BECAUSE WE ARE HUMANS. That is pure mediocrity.
“It is human to err and it is God’ to forgive” like we would say but he said become perfect.
When God created you, he made you perfect. You are made wonderfully (Psalm 139:14)

FAILURE, A STEPPING STONE TO PERFECTION

Great men are born out of great challenges. Without a failure, there will be no aim for success. The intensity for perfection would not be actualized except there is a stain of failure.
If you are not failing, you are not growing. Failure is delay, not defeat. It is temporary detour, not a dead end road.
Edison failed several times before he perfected modern electric lamp. The average man would have quilted at the first failure. That is why there are so many average people and only one Edison. I would rather fail in a cause that will ultimately succeed than succeed in a cause that will ultimately fail.
People are not remembered by how few times they failed but by how often they get up from it and try again. Don’t fear failure so much that you refuse to try new things.
Look at what you have left and not what you lost. THE WORD FAIL IS AN ACRONYM OF FIRST ATTEMPT IN LEARNING. If you won’t take the risk of failing, then perfection and success shall be far from you.
So aim for perfection in your life style, career, business, family, attitude, and whatever your hand finds to do. DO NOT SETTLE FOR MEDIOCRITY, WHEN YOU CAN BE MORE THAT PERFECT.
It is time to overcome our worst fears and take a bold step at becoming perfect.

9 THINGS NOT TO SAY WITH THE TONGUE

“There is that speak like piercings of a sword:but the tongue of the wise is health” (Pro. 12:18)

You can tell a wise man by the kind of words that come out of his mouth. Words are not to be used as swords and spears but as medicine. Your words should bind up broken heart, and give hope to the hopeless. Anytime you speak right, your words give healing to your listeners. While speaking, purposely select your words from today, words that are mild, soothing, encouraging, and edifying.
Things the tongue should not say are listed below:
1.     DON’T SPEAK EVIL AGAINST PEOPLE IN AUTHORITY: whether it be your president, governor, general manager, religious leader i.e. perhaps pastors, leader or ruler of your people, parents, no matter what they do or what you hear about them-don’t carry it about, Pray for them.
2.     DON’T GOSSIP YOUR COLLEAGUE, FRIEND OR PARTNER: “Did you like what he did?” “I didn’t”. The next time you make such a comment to anyone apart from John himself, you are gossiping John.
3.     DON’T BOAST: Are you a fine orator? Remember King Nebuchadnezzar in the holy scriptures who bragged of who he had become and God sent him into exile for seven(7) years where he ate grass and became like a monster until he recognize God as the only sovereign of all creature. Always remember the role God plays in your life.
4.     DON’T COMMENT ON ALL YOU SEE: Have you become an unpaid vendor? You sight a newspaper headline in London and you start running commentaries on its implications to America, without reading the content of the article.(Half truth is dangerous)
5.     DON’T FORESWEAR YOURSELF: Be it in the court of law, there is a provision for you to merely affirm your words. Always “let your nay be nay and your yea be yea. Whether its relationship oath or so, do not foreswear. Don’t be a fake person, I dislike them. Be truthful and trustworthy.
6.     DON’T CONFESS NEGATIVE: Someone asked about your health and you replied, “Fine, but am still cold, having headache, am not even sure I could survive it”. Be positive, act to get well, and have the faith that you will get up soon.
7.     DON’T BE A TALKACTIVE: Don’t “parrot” for the sake of being called a good social mixer. “A fool is full of words” (Eccl. 10:14) Why be a talkative?
8.     DON’T CURSE: “Does a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?” How do you bless God but curse human beings with the same tongue? Be wise. Tame your tongue to bless always.
9.    DON’T MURMUR AND DON’T COMPLAIN: Mariam did it and became a leper (Num. 12: 1-10). Korah, Dathan, and Abiram did it and the ground swallowed them up alive with their entire households (Num. 16:1-33) BUILD-UP WITH YOUR TONGUE (Prov. 14:1) Do your words heal of kill?
If this has been a blessing to you, then share to your friends and comment below.

THE SECRET OF GOOD SUCCESS

The Secret of good success

This has been sought after for quite long,
people have always sought after a success
that would last and have a guarantee.
Where can true success be found? Some
go as far as praying dangerous prayers,
some engage in sacrifices, some blood money,
some could kill relations and business partners
just for a success that will not last. It’s so
awkward the way we all search.
Even the richest men on earth still search for
success. If not so then why don’t they close
their area of revenue? And give all their wages
to the poor. Why do they insure their companies,
houses, life, and assets? when they are supposedly
successful. This is just a symbol of their temporal
success; their success is not permanent and divinely
 insured. Men got to see answers and that would
bring them back to who created them.

This is a platform for christians to talk about what the word of God say. It's time to pull out from the famous internet gossip chat, from sex, love and romantic chat, from self expository and businesses online, and LET'S TALK GOD'S WORD. Everyone is invited, when we begin, let us have in mind that the word of God gives light and understanding to the simple. Hope you accept this invite online. God bless. After every chat we should end it with this hashtag:- #letstalkabtdword

FROM THE CREATOR’S TABLE
God gave a command in Joshua 1:8, “This book of
the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou
shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou
mayest observe to do according to all that is
written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way
prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success”
Can we not see the map to success in this? Can we
not follow this simple principle from the one who
has created us? No, we are stubborn and perverse;
we have neglected him and his word.
He also said in verse 9 of that scripture “Have not I
commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage;
 be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the
LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest;
We can now see that true success is in God’s word,
we have been searching where there is no success,
now we know let’s turn unto him now he may be found.
STUDY GOD’S WORD DAY AND NIGHT
Follow up with this other scriptures De 17:18-19; Jos 1:7; Ps 1:1-3

SAY NO TO RACISM AND DISCRIMINATION

STOP RACISM AND PROMOTE UNITY IN ALL RACE

SAY NO TO RACISM AND DISCRIMINATION
Why is racism common among white? Why do they discriminate the most? Is God white or black? Is there anything special in being white or black or red?
Let us join the online initiatives to raise awareness of the battle against prejudice, ignorance and intolerance within the world. It is something that is even in football where a banana was thrown at a player (Dani Alves) while a game was on in Spain {Villareal vs. Barcelona} but to his credit, Alves responded in the best way possible by picking up the banana and eating it inside the field.
“We are all equal, we are all monkeys, say no to racism” wrote by Neymar Da Silva jnr.(fellow teammate of Dani Alves@fcbarcelona) on his social media site instagram to express his disgust at what had happened. He accompanied it with a hashtag #weareallmonkeys.
It’s a shame that there’s such prejudice in this modern age. It is time for people to raise their voices against this ludicrous action.
To show your support against racism, send a picture of you eating banana to my twitter account @iamsamiejames   then using the hashtag #SayNoToRacism.
And also share this to your friends on facebook and other sites too.
